Scene:
If you need evidence that Rockridge has become the East
Bay's neighborhood of choice for starter families, simply
look to the baby stores and organic markets that populate
its tree-lined streets. Rockridge Kids, the Children's Place
and Goodnight Room all cater to parents and tots, and the
open-air markets buzz with happy shoppers selecting organic
fruits and specialty cheeses. As the 20-something set will
attest, however, there's more to this idyllic enclave than
cribs and fresh produce.

Rockridge
residents tend to be artsy, so you'll find an assortment of
mom-and-pop shops rather than Gaps and Abercrombies.
Pendragon Used Books, Diesel Books and Saturn Records all
have the vibe and selection of good college-town stores.
You'll also find Hank & Frank's bike store, Fenton
MacLaren vintage furniture and Birkenstock, as well as local
chain stores such as Body Time, Ovallion and Crossroads
